Upcoming Workshops

Software Carpentry @ Queen's

Due to popular demand, we are planning another SWC workshop during **Reading Week 2017**. This will be a three-day workshop giving a thorough introduction to multiple aspects of scientific programming in the framework of Software Carpentry style lectures and hands-on labs:

  • Programming with R, including visualization
  • Using the bash shell on Unix systems
  • Version control with GIT
  • Advanced topics withe an emphasis on bioinformatics will be covered on Day3

The workshop will take place at Queen's University, on February 21-23, 2017.

The workshop took place at Queen's University, Oct 26-27, 2016.

2016 Compute Ontario HPC Summer School.

The Compute Ontario Summer School on High Performance and Technical Computing is an annual educational event for students, post-docs and researchers in the areas of computational science. Jointly organized by SHARCNET (Ontario-West), SciNet(Ontario-Central) and the Centre for Advance Computing (Ontario-East), attendees are provided with opportunities to learn and share knowledge and experience in high performance and technical computing. This all-week series of workshops will cover a range of high-performance computing related subjects. The Summer School was conducted in three instalments for the different regions of Ontario:

  • McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, May 30 - June 3, 2016
  • University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, July 11 - 15, 2016
  • University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, August 8 - 12, 2016
